ABOUT CHRISTOPHER MARTIN GALLERY | VAIL
As we enter into the New Year, Christopher Martin Gallery announced the expansion of its' newest gallery in the heart of the iconic Vail Village. Merging Christopher Martins' Texas and Florida heritage and Rocky Mountain lifestyle, the gallery addition is symbolic of where Martin is today and the exciting journey to come. Founded in Dallas by Martin himself, Christopher Martin Gallery opened its' doors for the first time in 1995. Flash forward 27 years, and now Martin is a staple of the Dallas Design District. While his Texas roots still hold firm, Martin resides in Aspen, Colorado, where his second gallery occupies an exciting space at the base of Aspen Mountain. Within a couple of weeks of each other, the gallerist and painter doubles his presence in Texas and Colorado with the opening of his Houston gallery and the highly anticipated Vail Gallery Grand Opening.
Symbolic to Martin's large-scale, abstract works, the artist believes in limitless possibilities. In July of 2021, when space on East Meadow Drive became available, Martin saw an opportunity to expand his horizons and vision throughout Colorado's vast mountain ranges into the world-renowned Vail-Village. Martin describes his painting style as Organic Expressionism. However, the artist continues to push his boundaries by developing new techniques with each new series. With bursts of colors, brushstrokes, and textures, the rhythmic beauty found throughout Martin's works relates to the gorgeous swirling lines carved by skiers descending the surrounding mountain ranges.
Along with expanding into new territories, Christopher Martin Gallery is enthusiastic about showcasing a rotating selection of abstract artists to exhibit along with Martin. The artist roster includes:
American western photographer Steve Wrubel.
International acclaimed photographer Isabelle Van Zeijl.
Colorado-based contemporary painter Kinga Czerska.
International Photographer Ysabel Lemay.
Hamptons-based abstract artist Jeff Muhs.
Vermont-based color-filed painter Charlie Bluett.
Santa Fe-based modernist sculptor Paul Bloch.
From Wrubel's dramatic yet romanticized rodeo photographs to Czerska's meditative acrylic paintings, the opening exhibition will reflect on a great range of contemporary artwork and bring diversity and imagination into the Vail community. Noteworthy is the work of internationally acclaimed artist Van Zeijl, whose autobiographical pieces have graced the cover of Harper's Bazaar in Europe.
