JEAN-PAUL KHABBAZ
Dallas | TX

Jean-Paul explored the dynamic interplay between perception and reality, engaging the viewer in an active dialogue with the artwork. By manipulating the relationship between the eye and brain, Khabbaz aims to evoke a sensation of movement. Through the deliberate use of color, geometric shapes, spatial relationships, line patterns, and repetition, Jean-Paul creates compositions that shift and transform as the viewer moves, making their participation an essential component of the experience.

Khabbaz was born in Caracas Venezuela in 1979 and discovered a deep interest in drawing and painting at a young age. At age 15, Jean-Paul moved to Dallas, TX to pursue a soccer scholarship while continuing his education and taking all the art classes possible.
Knowing that soccer was not going to be his ultimate career, Khabbaz chose to attend college at the School of Visual Arts at the University of North Texas where he received a BFA in Communication Design. After graduating in 2003, He began a career in Design and Art Direction and continued pursuing his passion for fine art— exploring his artistic style, showcasing in galleries, and commissioning work for clients.
Jean-Paul explored the dynamic interplay between perception and reality, engaging the viewer in an active dialogue with the artwork. By manipulating the relationship between the eye and brain, Khabbaz aims to evoke a sensation of movement and vibration. Through the deliberate use of color, geometric shapes, spatial relationships, line patterns, and repetition, Jean-Paul creates compositions that shift and transform as the viewer moves, making their participation an essential component of the experience.
Using layered sheets of plexiglass, Khabbaz introduces a tangible depth to the work, blurring the boundaries between the physical and the perceptual. This layering invites the viewer to navigate the space within the piece, transforming static elements into a constantly evolving optical experience.
