ABOUT THE ARTISTS IN THE SOLO SHOWS

Though his technique traces back to the 14th century, Christopher Martin’s approach to "Verre Églomisé" is entirely modern. A self-taught artist, Christopher coaxes layers of sheer pigment and water to achieve his vision ~ harnessing brushes, wind, heat, and gravity. Describing his technique, of painting in reverse on acrylic panels, Christopher says, "Every layer of paint has a high influence on the one behind it as opposed to a flat covering stroke. It’s often around thirty layers of paint that fuse together."

Gabriel and Angela Collazo have been partners in love and in life for fifteen years.
Angela is an interior designer with a keen eye for elegant yet simple refinement. Hers is an innate talent, a natural sophistication manifested in each work with a fine sense of style, scale, and color. Gabriel, an artist in every sense of the word, creates with purpose using paint, texture, layers, music, and drums, all of which are imbued with light and love. If you watched their videos, you felt their combined creative souls. Their fire ritual is a rebirth that represents the purifying effect that the Spirit of God—who is described as fire—desires to have upon this plane. Its presence is manifested in every piece they create.

In her paintings, objects and images are never too explicit, which increases their capacity to evoke a wide range of associations and recollections. This exemplifies the freedom with which Melissa Herrington works. Fusing meanings and delicate drawings. Spilling muted tones, marks that are at times methodical in their irregularity. Each nestles among intricately rendered lines with delicate strands wrapping bodies and colors floating across the surface. Appearing left unintentionally by a trace. Translucent stains and bold assured hues merge upon diaphanous graphite marks which weave through the haze of blurred color and suspended images both hidden and prevalent.
